Paramoria weaveri

We have now relocated our vessel back to Geraldton from Shark Bay. On the way south were we delighted to find another live Paramoria weaveri. Found in the early hours of the morning on the 8th of July crawling on sand among sparse sponges in 128 metres of water west of the Northern Zuytdorp Cliffs off Shark Bay.

Mature shell with very thick perfect lip. As can be seen in the photos, the shell has a dorsal growth interruption.  It has a strongly colored classic wavy pattern that typifies the species.

Lovely specimen of a very very rare volute !!!
