Cypraea jeaniana jeaniana - False Entrance

Very different and exceptional jeaniana collected from a funnel sponge in 110 metres of water west of False Entrance off Shark Bay in July 2018. The shell has fine tan spots on a pale cream dorsum with a strong chevron pattern. It has a stunning gold base which is zoned away from the aperture starting as a bright orange gold grading into a tan gold then trimmed in a pale apricot gold surround.

Heavy mature shell with flared base. Pretty gemmy other than a fine slither that has come off the posterior siphon then been re-grown by the animal healing the injury.
