Cypraea jeaniana jeaniana - Coral Bay

One of the original Coral Bay shells collected by Andrew Edinger in 1994 A small population of jeaniana were found by Peter Clarkson, Andrew and others in 35 to 45 metres of water on the western side of the Barrier Reef off Coral Bay. Few if any have been found since and the area is now a marine reserve so it is very unlikely more will be collected.

Coral Bay is as far north as jeaniana have been found. They are particularly attractive being large broad shells with pretty dorsum, black bases and high peach cream margins.

Graded Fine+/Fine++ due to a growth break on the shell's labial side and fine nacre windowing over it's dorsum.

Habitat now a Marine Reserve !!!
