On our recent trip to Coral Bay in May 2024 we found this guy on sand in 124 metres of water west of Coral Bay. A crabbed chaneyi but in gemmy condition. This is as far north as we have found this species.

A beautiful apricot colored shell with two brown patterned bands across the body. The shell has minor basal wear and a tiny chip to the lip that can be felt.

There are only very few live taken specimens that we have collected. We have previously donated tissue to the West Australian Museum for future DNA testing.
